What is meant by Oral Candidiasis?

• The disease is also called thrush.
• Oral Candidiasis is caused by a fungus called candida.
• The disease is not confined to mouth only.
• It can occur in other parts as well like area around bums in infants and vagina in women.

Causes of Oral Thrush or Candidiasis

• Intake of antibiotics
• Weakened immune systems
• High blood pressure due to diabetes

Symptoms of Oral Thrush or Candidiasis

• Whitish, velvety lesions in the mouth.
• These red tissues also bleed.
• These lesions can appear large.

Home Remedies for Oral Thrush or Candidiasis

7. Tea Tree oil with Antifungal Properties
• Prepare a solution of water and white vinegar – one part of white vinegar to four part of water.
• Soak your feet for 20 to 30 minutes twice day.
• Sprinkle some baking soda between the infected area fingers and rinse your feet after fifteen minutes.
• It is as effective as an expensive antifungal powder.
• Rub tea tree oil between your infected area fingers, it has antifungal properties.
• For immediate relief from itching or burning, soak your feet in an antiseptic mouthwash like Listerine.

8. Corn starch
• Corn starch is effective in soaking moisture.
• Keep the infected area dry by sprinkling some corn starch on them.

9. Apple Cider Vinegar
• Dilute a cup of apple cider vinegar with an equal amount of water.
• Use this diluted solution to wash the affected skin.
• Apple cider vinegar is acidic in nature and can easily help kill off the fungal strains.
• Undiluted apple cider vinegar may be used for athlete’s infected area treatment.

10. Yogurt
• One of the greatest of all fungus-fighting foods is yogurt that contains live acidophilus.
• Acidophilus helps control vaginal and oral yeast.

11. Garlic
• Crush 1 clove of garlic and mix with a few drops of olive oil to make a paste.
• Apply to the nail and leave on for 15 to 30 minutes.
• Clean off in warm, soapy water.
• Dry feet thoroughly.
• Repeat daily.

12. Cinnamon
• A good soak in a cinnamon tea will help slow down the fungus.
• Boil 8 to 10 broken cinnamon sticks in 4 cups water, and then simmer for five minutes.
• Let steep for another 45 minutes.
• Soak your feet for 15 to 30 minutes.
• Repeat daily, as needed.

13. Lemon
• This remedy will help you in the odor removal of the sweaty infected area.
• Squeeze the juice from a lemon and mix it with 2 ounces water.
• Rinse your feet with the lemon water.

14. Tea
• The tannic acid in tea is soothing.
• It helps to dry the infected area, and helps kill the fungus.
• Make a infected area soak by putting 6 black tea bags in 1 quart warm water.

15. Salt
• Soak the infected area in warm salt water, using 1 teaspoon salt for each cup of water, for 10 minutes.
• Dry your infected area thoroughly, and then dab some baking soda between your infected areas.

Diet for Oral Candidiasis

1. Take Vitamin C Rich Diet
• Candidiasis patients should consume low saturated fats.
• They must include lots of fresh fruits.
• They should include rich vegetables in their diet.
• They must eat a diet rich in fiber.
• People deficient in Vitamin C are at increased risk for periodontal disease.
• They must take Vitamin C supplements to improve the gum health.
• Eating vitamin C rich foods is beneficial.

2. Foods to be avoided are:
• Sugar
• Fruit juices
• White flour
• White rice
• Soft drinks
• Syrups
