• Wheezing is a high-pitched whistling sound during breathing.
• It occurs when air flows through narrowed breathing tubes.
• Wheezing most often comes from the small breathing tubes (bronchial tubes) deep in the chest.
• This may be due to a blockage in larger airways or in persons with certain vocal cord problems.

Causes of Wheezing

• Wheezing
• Breathing a foreign object into the lungs
• Bronchiectasis
• Bronchiolitis
• Wheezing
• Emphysema (COPD), especially when a respiratory infection is present
• Gastroesophageal reflux disease
• Heart failure (cardiac Wheezing)
• Insect sting that causes an allergic reaction
• Medications (particularly aspirin)
• Pneumonia
• Smoking
• Viral infection, especially in infants younger than age 2

Home Remedies for Wheezing

12. Powder of ginger and pepper and honey
• Mix one gram of dry ginger powder and one gram of black pepper in one teaspoon of molasses of honey.

13. Borax
• Take grind kheel of borax which is made by heating borax in an iron vessel so that it spreads and store in a bottle and dilute it.
• Take half gram to one gram of it twice or thrice with honey or warm water.

14. Honey and olive oil
• Boil one teaspoon of pure honey, 1 teaspoon of olive oil, half a cup of milk, and some garlic clove.
• Drink everyday this boiled mixture.
• This is an effective natural remedy for Wheezing.

15. Fenugreek seeds
• Boil some fenugreek seeds in 250 ml of water.
• Remove from flame when one-third of it is left.
• Add one teaspoonful of ginger juice and one teaspoonful of honey in it.
• It is highly beneficial for the Wheezing patients.

16. Fennel seeds
• Regular chewing of fennel helps expel infected mucous from the chest. This helps in preventing Wheezing attacks.

17. Dry pomegranate
• Peel dry pomegranate and keep them in a jar.
• Boil two raisins and some part of the peel in 250 ml of milk.
• Drink this milk twice a day.
• This is one of the good Wheezing remedies.

18. Essential oil of juniper
• A few drops in hot water can act as good inhalant.
• It should not be used undiluted on the skin or handkerchief.

19. Turmeric
• Half a teaspoon of turmeric powder should be administered with half a glass of milk.
• It should be taken about two or three times daily.
• It acts best when taken on an empty stomach.

20. Ginger
• Prepare a mixture of half a teaspoon of the powder of ginger, pepper, and cloves.
• Take this mixture, three times a day.
• It may be licked with honey.
• It can also be taken as an infusion with tea.
• The mixture of these three ingredients has also antipyretic qualities.
• It is effective in reducing fever accompanying Wheezing.
• It also tones up the metabolism of the patient.

21. Onion
• Onions have been used as a remedy for Wheezing for centuries.
• They are said to possess expectorant properties.
• They liquefy phlegm and prevent its further formation.
• One teaspoon of raw onion juice should be taken first thing in the morning for best results.

22. Spinach
• Mix fifty grams of fresh leaves of spinach, and 250 ml of water with a pinch of ammonium chloride and one teaspoonful of honey.
• This infusion is an effective expectorant in the treatment of Wheezing.

23. Sesame Seeds
• An infusion of one teaspoon of sesame seeds that is mixed with a teaspoon of linseed, a pinch of common salt, and a teaspoon of honey can be prepared.
• This infusion can be given once at night for beneficial results.
• Take half a teaspoon of dry seeds pounded into powder and this should be mixed with two tablespoons of water and taken twice daily.
• A decoction of half a teaspoon of the same should be taken twice daily.

24. Almond
• An emulsion of almonds is useful in bronchial diseases, including Wheezing.
• It is prepared by making a powder of seven kernels of almonds and mixing the powdered kernels in a cup of orange or lemon juice.
• This emulsion should be taken once daily at night.

25. Dry grapes (raisins)
• Soak dry grapes in water at night and keep in cold milk for half an hour and chew them.
• In the remaining water add a little sugar and drink it.
• In a month the lungs will be strengthened and poisonous wastes will be removed from the body.
