			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Cucumber is a fruit that came from the same family as pumpkin, zucchini and other squashes. A cucumber that is yellow in color, has a round shape and is available in many parts of India.<br />
Cucumbers originate from India and since ancient times these fruit were taken as a desert, that is why in modern Pakistan and other Eastern countries cucumbers are served among the fruit like apples, peaches, melons and others.<br />
100 g of cucumber has 70 calories, 80 mg of potassium, 27 mg of phosphorus, 32 mg of calcium, 17 mg of carbohydrates, 1.8 mg of iron, as well as vitamin C, vitamin A, niacin and B group vitamins, molybdenum, magnesium, tryptophan, dietary fiber and so on. The alkalinity of cucumber is also a positive element. </p>
<p><strong>English cucumbers</strong> &#8211; Have very little in the way of seeds and can grow to around 2 feet in length.<br />
<strong>Mediterranean cucumbers</strong> &#8211; Skins are smooth with nearly seedless flesh, they have a mild taste.<br />
<strong>Japanese cucumbers</strong> &#8211; A dark green cucumber with a very bumpy skin. Mainly used for slicing, salads and pickling.</p>

Bottle Gourd or Lauki has many properties that are valued in traditional healing. </p>
<h2> Benefits of Lauki/Bottel Guard</h2>
<p>- Good for people who are on low calorie diet because it contains 96.1 % water.<br />
- Consumption of bottle gourd helps in overcoming jaundice.<br />
- A glassful of plain juice with a pinch of salt should be taken everyday.  Its use during summer prevents excessive loss of sodium, quenches thirst and helps in preventing fatigue.<br />
- Cooked lauki is cooling, calming and acts as diuretic.<br />
- It plays a very important role in treating urinary disorders. Prepare a glass of fresh juice by grating lauki and then mixing it with limejuice.<br />
- It has a high fibre content and thus useful in regulation of bowel movements.<br />
-  Due to its high fibre content it can be used to prevent gastrointestinal disorders, constipation, piles, ulcers. It acts as a diuretic and calms you down after consumption.<br />

<h2>How to make Loki Juice </h2>
<p>- Grate lauki with home grater (called Kaddu kas). Put the grated loki on tea strainer. Squeeze it with big spoon or table spoon by putting pressure. Collect the liquid in glass. You can also add grounded black pepper or black salt to suit your taste. You can honey/lemon to improve its taste. Dont add sugar.</p>

When the secretion is more than usual, we feel, what is commonly known as heartburn, which is normally triggered off by consumption of spicy foods.<br />
Some home remedies for curing acidity are :<br />
- Skip the aerated drinks as well as caffeine. Opt for herbal tea instead.<br />
- Have a glass of lukewarm water everyday.<br />
- Include banana, watermelon and cucumber in your daily diet. Watermelon juice is great for curing acidity.<br />
- Nariyal paani is known to soothe the system if you suffer from acidity.<br />
- Drink a glass of milk everyday.<br />
- Have your last meal at least two or three hours before you hit the sack.<br />
- Eat at regular intervals. Have small but regular meals.<br />
- Try to avoid pickles, spicy food, vinegar during acidity.<br />
- Boil some mint leaves in water and have a glass of this after meals.<br />
- Excessive smoking and drinking will increase acidity.<br />
- Try chewing gum. The saliva generated helps move food through the esophagus, easing symptoms of heartburn.<br />
- Ginger acids in digestion.<br />
- A simple preparation of lemon water with sugar can be sipped on an hour before lunch to reduce uneasiness.<br />
- Have vegetables like drumsticks, beans, pumpkin, cabbage, carrot and spring onions.</p>
