- There are a variety of substances which are termed allergens that may trouble a sensitive individual.

HOME REMEDIES FOR ALLERGIES

14. Wasabi
- Wasabi is a pale-green, fiery condiment that is served with many Japanese dishes. This is a member of the horseradish family.
- A person who has taken too big a dollop of wasabi (or plain old horseradish) can experience that it makes sinuses and tear ducts spring into action.
- This effect is because of allyl isothiocyanate, a constituent in wasabi that promotes mucus flow.
- Purchase grated horseradish, and take 1/4 teaspoon to alleviate allergy symptoms.

15. Avoid the Culprit
- Depending on what you are allergic too, try preventing conditions like pet, dust, smoke etc., as much as possible.

16. Allergies Treatment using Castor Oil
- Add five drops of castor oil to half a cup of water or any fruit or vegetable juice and consume it on an empty stomach each morning.
- This is effective for various allergic reactions that affect the intestinal tract, skin, and nasal passages.

17. Allergies Treatment using Lime
- Lime is considered as an effective remedy for any kind of allergy.
- Half a lime may be squeezed in a glass of lukewarm water and sweetened with a teaspoon of honey.
- It can be taken once daily first thing in the morning, Take this for several months.
- This remedy not only flushes the system of toxins but also acts as an antitoxic and antiallergic agent.

18. Allergies Treatment using Vegetable Juices
- A quantity of 500 ml carrot juice or a combination of carrot juice with beet and cucumber juices has been found beneficial in the treatment of allergies.
- 100 ml each of beet and cucumber juices should be mixed with 300 ml of carrot juice to prepare 500 ml or half a liter of mixed juice.
- This should be taken at least once a day.

19. Allergies Treatment using Gingko Biloba
- Gingko biloba is one of the best herbs for allergies like asthma and other respiratory allergies.
- The leaves of gingko biloba contain vital properties which help in activating platelets in the body.
- This helps in fighting allergies like asthma.
- It also contains natural antihistamines and anti-inflammatory chemicals which are very effective in fighting various allergies.

20. Allergies Treatment using Reishi Mushroom
- The Reishi mushroom has been widely used in Chinese medicine for problems like allergies, asthma, hypertension and various other liver problems.
- The Reishi mushroom is one of the most effective natural herbs for allergies.
- It contains powerful anti-inflammatory properties and antihistamines which can effectively fight a variety of allergies including asthma.

21. Use of Herbs as Home Remedy
- If your nasal mucus is green or yellow, you may have an infection on top of allergies.
- Take one dose of an echinacea and goldenseal combination formula which has 250 to 500 milligrams of echinacea and 150 to 300 milligrams of goldenseal.
- Take this two to three times daily for five to seven days to help resolve the infection.
- Nettle can be very helpful for drying out the sinuses.
- Take 150 to 500 milligrams two or three times daily, as needed, for two weeks.
- Turmeric is an East Indian herb with natural anti- inflammatory properties.
- It is an excellent remedy for those who suffer from fatigue coupled with allergies.
- Take 500 milligrams three times daily.

22. Other Allergies Treatments
- Avoid Stress, Do Meditation, Exercise and Mind Control

23. Yogasanas
Certain yoga asanas can be effective in helping to treat allergies like:
- The Half Spinal Twist Pose (ardh-matsyendrasana)
- The Shoulderstand Pose (sarvangasana)
- Yogamudra, which are essentially hand postures
- The corpse poses (shavasana)

- An allergy is a hypersensitive reaction to a normally harmless substance.
- There are a variety of substances which are termed allergens that may trouble a sensitive individual.

HOME REMEDIES FOR ALLERGIES

7. Use Saline Solution
- Using a saline solution (salt water) for the nose may help soothe upper respiratory allergies.
- This helps by removing irritants that become lodged in the nose that cause inflammation.
- In fact, saline solution may even wash away some of the inflammatory cells themselves.
- One can make a fresh solution daily by mixing a teaspoon of salt in a pint of warm, distilled water and adding a pinch of baking soda.
- Bend over a sink and sniff a bit of solution into one nostril at a time.
- Then allow it to drain back out through the nose or mouth.
- Do this once or twice a day.

8. Wash
- Long hours outdoors during the pollen season can cause allergy so wash your hair to remove pollen after you come inside.
- The sticky yellow stuff tends to collect on the hair, making it more likely to fall into your eyes.
- If you wake up in the middle of the night with a coughing, sneezing allergy attack, a hot shower may wash off any pollen residues.
- It will also help to open up your sinuses.
- This shall make breathing a little easier.
- The warm water may even help you relax and go back to sleep.
- If your eyes are itchy and irritated, rinsing your eyes with cool, clean water may also help soothe them.

9. Beware of the Air
- Breathing polluted air can worsen symptoms.
- Spend as little time outdoors as possible on smoggy days.
- Wear a surgical mask, especially while exercising.
- Tobacco smoke is a notorious irritant, either causing or aggravating respiratory allergies.
- A fresh breeze blowing through an open window on a spring day is not good for an allergy sufferer, since it can fill the house with pollen.
- To minimize contact with the powdery stuff, keep windows closed at all times.
- Air purifiers, especially those with HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air Filters) filters, may help eliminate indoor pollen.
- Avoid anything that tends to stir up dust, which might worsen some allergies.
- On a windy day in pollen season, a pair of sunglasses may also help shield your eyes from airborne allergens.

10. Drink Peppermint Tea
- Peppermint’s essential oil acts as a decongestant, and substances in peppermint contain anti-inflammatory and mild antibacterial constituents.
To make peppermint tea:
- Place 1/2 ounce dried peppermint leaves in a 1-quart jar.
- Fill two-thirds of the jar with boiling water, and steep for five minutes.
- Drink it.

11. Steam Your Face
- Breathing steam refreshes and soothes irritated sinuses.
- It also helps rid the nasal passages of mucus accumulated in it.
- Boil several cups of water and pour into a big bowl (or a plugged sink).
- Lean carefully over the bowl, and drape a towel over your head.
- Breathe gently for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Let the water cool until warm, saturate a washcloth.
- Hold the cloth on your sinuses (to the sides of your nose, below the eyes, and above the eyebrows).

12. Go Bare
- Carpets are notorious for being a haven for dust mites.
- Bare floors, vacuumed and damp-mopped frequently, will help keep your home’s dust-mite population down.
- If you can’t remove all the carpeting in your home, at least opt for bare floors.
- When carpets can’t be removed, try keeping them as clean as possible by vacuuming.
- Use a vacuum that has a built-in HEPA filter or attach a filter to the exhaust port of your canister vacuum.

13. Dehumidify
- Dust mites love a humid environment.
- Invest in a dehumidifier or use an air conditioner, which works equally well.
- A dehumidifier can also help prevent mold, another allergen, from growing.
- When cooking or showering, take advantage of the exhaust fan
- This is another way to help keep humidity to a minimum.

- An allergy is a hypersensitive reaction to a normally harmless substance.
- There are a variety of substances which are termed allergens that may trouble a sensitive individual.

COMMON ALLERGENS INCLUDE:
- Pollen
- Animal dander
- House dust
- Feathers
- Mites
- Chemicals
- A variety of foods

Some allergies primarily cause respiratory symptoms but others can cause such diverse symptoms as:
- headache,
- fatigue,
- fever,
- diarrhea,
- stomachache,
- vomiting

If you have allergies, you may suffer from:
- a stuffy and/or runny nose,
- sneezing,
- itchy skin and eyes
- red, watery eyes

HOME REMEDIES FOR ALLERGIES

1. Diet as a home remedy
- Drink lots of water to thin secretions to ease expectoration.
- In addition to dairy products and wheat, common allergens include eggs, chocolate, nuts, seafood, citrus fruits and juices.
- Use an elimination or rotation diet to discover and work with food allergies.
- Try eliminating dairy foods from your diet.
- Dairy foods can thicken the mucus and stimulate an increase in mucus production.
- Cut out cooked fats and oils.
- Undigested fats contribute to mucus production and foster a toxic internal environment.

2. Fresh Fruit Juices
- A juice fast for four to five days can help to restore normal immune system functioning.
- It would be wise to follow this type of a fast on a regular basis.
- This will regulate your system.
- It will even help to create a tolerance to the allergen.

3. Mono Diet of Vegetables or fruits
- A mono diet of vegetables or fruits is an extremely effective follow-up diet after the juice fast.
- For the first week, the patient should have fruits like grapes, or apples and vegetables such as carrots, cucumbers, and green leafy vegetables.
- During the second week, another food product can be introduced into the patient’s diet.
- During the third week yet another food product should be included.
- After the fourth week, the individual can add protein-rich foods to his/her diet, making sure to add just one new food product at a time.
- In this manner, it is possible to determine which foods cause an allergic reaction and they can then be avoided.

4. Avoid Food like Tea/Coffee or Containing chemical Additives and Preservatives
- You will need to avoid coffee, tea, colas, and all alcoholic beverages.
- You would also need to avoid chocolate and refine flour and sugar products.
- Bakery products like pastries should not be taken.
- Fish and milk products should be avoided along with salted, pickled, or smoked food products.
- Preserved food products, especially those with chemical flavorings and preservatives must be eliminated.

5. Nutrients as Home Remedies
- Calcium and magnesium are important nutrients for the allergy sufferer.
- They help to relax an over reactive nervous system.
- Take a supplement containing 750 to 1,000 milligrams of calcium and 500 milligrams of magnesium twice a day, during acute conditions.
- Take the same dosage once a day for two months.
- Taking a digestive-enzyme supplement will enhance the assimilation and utilization of nutrients.

Take a full-spectrum digestive-enzyme supplement providing
- 5,000 international units of lipase
- 2,500 international units of amylase
- 300 international units of protease
- 500 to 1,000 milligrams of pancreatin immediately after each meal

6. Other nutrients
- Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is a good source of sulfur.
- This is a trace mineral that helps to reduce the severity of the allergic response.
- Take 500 milligrams three or four times daily, with meals.
- Selenium is an antioxidant and works synergistically with vitamin E.
- Take 50 to 100 micrograms twice a day during the allergy season.
- Vitamin C has anti-inflammatory properties.
- During acute flare-ups, take 1,000 milligrams five times a day for four to five days.
- Follow this with 1,000 milligrams three times a day for three weeks.
- Take 1,000 milligrams a day for two months.
- Some people with allergies find mineral ascorbate vitamin C or esterified vitamin C (Ester-C) easier to tolerate than simple ascorbic acid.

- Eczema is also called as dermatitis.
- It is a group of skin disorders.
- Eczema causes the skin to be inflamed and irritated.
- It occurs mostly in infants and children but adults are no exception.

There are different types of eczema like
- Atopic eczema
- Allergic contact dermatitis
- Irritant contact dermatitis
- Infantile seborrhoeic eczema
- Adult seborrhoeic eczema
- Varicose eczema
- Discoid eczema

Home Remedies for Eczema

Different types of cleansing
19. Herbal Cleansing
- Using herbs to gently purify the digestive and elimination systems of the body.

20. Fasting
- This gives your body and digestion a chance to rest.
- Most people do a vegetable juice fast or a raw vegetable and fruit fast.
- Some brave souls have done water fast but this is more intense and draining for the body.

21. Colonics
- This is a procedure done by a trained professional.
- The professional irrigates the colon with water.
- This helps to release toxins and impurities that may be lodged in the walls of the colon.

22. Water is nature’s #1 natural remedy for eczema
- Drink more water to cleanse and hydrate your body and keep your skin moist and supple.
- Take a steam bath to open pores and hydrate your skin.
- Be sure to moisturize afterwards.
- Use cold compresses to relieve the pain, stinging and itching of eczema inflammations.
- Wrap your skin in a cotton towel that is wetted with cool water to help soothe arms or legs that have a lot of eczema inflammations.

23. Other Home remedies
- Wear cotton clothes, to allow your skin to breathe more easily.
- Some people have found mudpacks to be very effective in treating eczema.
- Another method sometimes used to heal eczema is with light therapy.
- Taking a sun bath is another method.
- Moisturize your skin regularly.
- Use a good hypoallergenic moisturizer.

24. Some homemade pastes and solutions
- Apply a mixture of 1 teaspoon camphor and 1 teaspoon sandalwood paste on the rashes.
- Apply nutmeg paste to the affected areas.
- Put natural vitamin E on the affected skin.
- Zinc taken orally and applied directly on the affected skin is effective.
- Both shark cartilage and lotion of blueberry leaves reduce inflammation.
- Use pine tar soap to wash the affected skin.
- Drink tomato juice daily, it will cure the symptoms in a few days.

25. Homemade Lotion
- Make a lotion out of crushed dandelion leaves, spearmint leaves, and a few drops of oil.
- Apply this lotion to your skin and allow it to remain on for at least 30 minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.
- This can act as an effective eczema cure.

26. Cleansing Scrub
- Make a cleansing scrub by soaking a handful of nuts in a small quantity of water.
- Blend these nuts along with half an avocado as avocados contain healthy oils that help to protect and moisturize your skin.
- Massage your skin gently with this creamy natural exfoliating paste.
- You can then allow it to remain on your skin for about 10 minutes before you rinse it off.
- You can add a few drops of fresh lemon juice to this paste to help cleanse your skin of the uppermost layer of dead skin cells.

27. Papaya paste
- Another useful and easily available ingredient for eczema treatment would be papaya.
- Mashed papaya seeds can be applied to the areas of skin that are affected to reduce the itchiness.

Common bites and stings
- Most bites and stings will heal on their own without a visit to a doctor.
- The insect bites range from a normal mosquito to spider or a bee sting.
- The severity depends on the insect.
- Some insect bites might not be dangerous and mild.
- Some can lead to severe swelling and may need doctor’s help upon the prolonged swelling of the bite.
- Depending on which part the insect has bitten, the precautions can be taken.
- For example, if it eyes or inside the nose or ear, doctor’s help is required at the earliest.
- Redness, Itching, Irritation, Inflammation etc., are some symptoms of the bite.
- There are several things you can do to relieve pain and itching and prevent infection from a bite or sting.

Insect or spider bites or stings or contact with caterpillars
- Move away from the stinging or biting insect. Bees will alert other bees, making them more likely to sting.
- Remain as calm and quiet as possible. Movement increases the spread of venom in the bloodstream.
- If you have been stung by a bee and the stinger is still in the skin, remove the stinger as quickly as possible.

If you have been stung on the arm or leg, do the following:
- Lower the limb at the time of the sting to slow the spread of venom.
- You can elevate the limb to help reduce swelling.
- Remove broken-off spines by placing cellophane tape or commercial facial peel over the area of the contact.
- Then pull it off.

Relieve pain, itching, and swelling
- Apply an ice pack to a bite or sting for 15 to 20 minutes once an hour for the first 6 hours.
- When not using ice, keep a cool, wet cloth on the bite or sting for up to 6 hours.
- Always keep a cloth between your skin and the ice pack.
- Do not apply ice for longer than 15 to 20 minutes at a time.
- Do not fall asleep with the ice on your skin.
- Elevate the area of the bite or sting to decrease swelling.
- Try a nonprescription medicine for the relief of itching, redness, and swelling.

Be sure to follow the nonprescription medicine precautions like:
- An antihistamine taken by mouth, such as Benadryl or Chlor-Trimeton, may help relieve itching, redness, and swelling.
- Don’t give antihistamines to your child.
- A spray of local anesthetic containing benzocaine, such as Solarcaine, may help relieve pain.
- If your skin reacts to the spray, stop using it.
- Hydrocortisone 1% cream or calamine lotion applied to the skin may help relieve itching and redness.

Other precautions :
- Remove the stinger with tweezers.
- Scrape out the stinger, moving parallel to the skin surface.
- This will help to reduce the chance of pumping more venom.
- Bathe the stung area with a solution of baking soda and water.
- Immediately apply ice packs to reduce swelling (lining the pack with cloth or a thin towel).
- Do this frequently for 5 minutes at a time.
- A swollen muzzle often indicates a bee sting.
- Stings and bites can cause severe reactions.

There are some seasonal allergies that can cause itchy eyes, scratchy throat, relentless sneezing. Allergens are in the air.
The nasal cycle is affected by the body position. When we lie on one side, the pressure of body in contact with bed triggers a reflex change in the nose so the upper nostril opens while lower one closes up.
Other factors that can affect nasal cycle are allergies, infections, pregnancy, some drugs, humidity, hormones, sexual activity.

Few tricks to keep the symptoms away are:
- To avoid pollen and allergens to spread all over house, try to keep your shoes at the door and avoid them to bring in house.
- Air purifier should be bought which has a HEPA filter which traps tiny particles like viruses and smoke.
- Take a shower before going to bed as it will help you to get rid of all the pollen that you have gathered all day so that they are not carried onto your pillow.
- It is a known fact that pollen is highest during early morning hours so if you are used to do exercise in the morning, then it would be a better option that you should move the workouts indoors.
- Sunglasses should be worn when you are out as they help to keep airborne pollen and allergens out of your eyes.
- Some natural remedies can help to block the allergens. Natural things like fish oil and herbs like butter-bur and singing nettle are good option.
- When you have allergic symptoms, milk and dairy products should be reduced as they increase the mucus production. Also, sugar intake should also be reduced as it increases the swelling levels and therefore, lowering the immunity system.
- Car is another place where you spend a lot of time. So, the car should be cleaned from inside as well as outside.
- Taking tea pot remedies are quite effective as it reduces the sinus pressure and flushes out the nasal passages.
