Liver disease is also called hepatic disease. This is in terms of group of single number of diseases affecting the liver. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is a liver disease.
- This is one cause of a fatty liver.
- This occurrs when fat is deposited (steatosis) in the liver.
- It is not due to excessive alcohol use.
- It is related to insulin resistance and the metabolic syndrome.
- This is involved with symptoms such as weight loss, metformin and thiazolidinediones.
- Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is the most extreme form of NAFLD.
- This is regarded as a major cause of cirrhosis of the liver of unknown cause.

Causes of Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
- Fatigue
- Malaise
- Dull right-upper-quadrant abdominal discomfort
- Mild jaundice
- Abnormal liver function tests
- Alcohol consumption of over 20 g/day
- Insulin resistance
- Metabolic syndrome
- Obesity
- Combined hyperlipidemia
- Diabetes mellitus (type II)
- High blood pressure

Secondary Causes
NAFLD can also be caused by some medications.
- Amiodarone
- Antiviral drugs (nucleoside analogues)
- Aspirin rarely as part of Reye’s syndrome in children
- Corticosteroids
- Methotrexate
- Tamoxifen
- Tetracycline

Symptoms present in advanced stages of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease are:
- Lack of appetite
- Unexplained weight loss
- Nausea
- Small, red spider veins under your skin or easy bruising
- Weakness
- Jaundice
- Bleeding from engorged veins in your esophagus or intestines
- Loss of interest in sex
- Fluid in your abdominal cavity
- Itching on your hands and feet and eventually on your entire body
- Swelling of your legs and feet
- Fatigue
- Malaise
- Dull right-upper-quadrant abdominal discomfort
- Mild jaundice

Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a chronic (lasting years and decades), progressive (worsening over time) disease of the bile ducts.
- This disease channelizes bile from the liver into the intestines.
- Bile is a watery liquid made by the cells of the liver that is important for digesting food in the intestine, particularly fat.
- This liquid also helps to get rid of the body of toxins.
- Liver cells secrete the bile they make into small canals within the liver.
- The bile flows through the canals and into larger collecting canals (ducts).
- The bile then flows within the intrahepatic bile ducts out of the liver and into the extrahepatic bile ducts.
- From the extrahepatic bile ducts, the bile flows into the intestine where the bile mixes with food.

In primary sclerosing cholangitis :
- The intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile ducts become inflamed,
- scarred and thickened (sclerotic),
- narrowed,
- finally obstructed.

Obstruction of the ducts can lead to:
- abdominal pain,
- itching,
- jaundice,
- infection in the bile ducts (cholangitis),
- liver scarring that leads to liver cirrhosis,
- liver failure.

Symptoms of primary sclerosing cholangitis:
- Most patients with early primary sclerosing cholangitis have no symptoms.
- The presence of primary sclerosing cholangitis is recognized only because of abnormally elevated blood levels of liver enzymes (particularly alkaline phosphatase levels).
- This is often recognized along with a routine physical examination.
Early symptoms of primary sclerosing cholangitis include
- Fatigue
- bodily itching (pruritus)

With the progress of the disease:
- Patients may develop jaundice (yellowing of skin and darkening of urine).
- Jaundice is due to the accumulation of bilirubin in the body.
- The bilirubin accumulates because it is not able to be eliminated in the bile.
- This is due to prolonged obstruction of the bile ducts.
- The accumulation of bilirubin turns the skin and whites of the eye (sclera) yellow.
- It may be due to accumulation of bile salts in the body.
- It is as a result of obstruction of the bile ducts.

As primary sclerosing cholangitis progresses, patients typically develop:
- Right upper abdominal pain,
- Fever,
- Fatigue,
- Pruritus
- Jaundice
- These patients also are at risk of developing primary sclerosing cholangitis complications.
- The patients with the autoimmune form of primary sclerosing cholangitis have more rapid symptoms of abdominal pain, jaundice and fever.

Small Intestine is the part of the gastrointestinal tract connecting the stomach and followed by the large intestine. It is the longest part of digestive system. It has many folds to fit itself in the abdomen. Small intestine is also called small bowel. Most of the digestion takes place in small intestine. It consists of duodenum, the ileum, and the jejunum.

A healthy digestive system is really important. There can be few problems related to small intestine. The disorders with small intestine are mainly due to infection by microbes or structural disorders. Some intestine disorders are:
- blockage
- infection
- tumor
- crohn’s disease
- celiac disease
- short bowel syndrome.

Blockage in small intestine can be due to any kind of pressure that is applied externally, tumor or some foreign bodies. This blockage prevents fluids and waste products from passing through the digestive tract. Feeling of nausea, vomiting, inflammation in abdomen is observed.

Infection in small intestine is because of some bacteria or virus. This is because of eating spoiled food and having spoiled drinks. Feeling of constipation, diarrhea, cramps and loss of appetite is observed.

Celiac disease of small intestine causes inflammation and damage of intestine lining when it is exposed to specific forms of glycoprotein and gluten protein. It is an auto-immune disease.

Short bowel syndrome is the condition in which about two third of the small intestine is not working properly. It is also known as short gut. The nutrients are not absorbed properly as a result a feeling of fatigue, pain in the abdomen, diarrhea and malnutrition can occur.

Small Intestine Cancer is one of most dangerous disorder of small intestine as the symptoms of this cancer are not observed at early stages, they are noticed at later stages. Symptoms of small intestine cancer includes very acute pain in abdomen and intestine, too much weakness and excessive weight loss.

Crohn’s disease is an auto immune disorder. It causes inflammation and swelling of the digestive tract. The symptoms and complications of crohn disease can vary depending on the location of the inflammation. Common symptoms that can be observed are diarrhea, weight loss, weakness, vomiting, skin problems.

Small bowel bacterial overgrowth syndrome (SBBOS), or small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) is an excessive bacterial growth in small intestine. Various symptoms include nausea, bloating, vomiting and diarrhea, which is caused by a number of mechanisms.

When we breathe in, we take air which passes through mouth, nose, and voice box into the trachea and continues the route to each lung via either the right or left bronchi Acute bronchitis is the inflammation of these bronchi tubes and makes it difficult for the air to reach the lungs.

In most cases, it is caused by viruses or bacteria and it lasts for several days or weeks. Common cold is also one of the reason behind acute bronchitis. Smoking is the commonest reason for this to happen. Chemical irritants can also cause acute bronchitis. When a person is suffering from acute bronchitis, sticky mucus fills up the bronchi causing them to swell up and this inflammation restricts the air to flow in and out.

The symptoms for acute bronchitis includes:
- Inflammation of bronchi tubes makes it difficult for air to pass through. It causes wheezing, coughing and shortness of breath.
- Fever and Chills
- Body pain
- Sore throat
- Fatigue
- It gets worse at night.
- Tickle feeling in back of throat.

Doctor should be called for if the cough and wheezing sound remains for more than two weeks or you have gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which is a condition in which stomach acid gets into your esophagus (windpipe) or blood in your cough.

Diagnosis of acute bronchitis is done by clinical examination and sometimes microbiological examination of the phlegm. A chest X-ray to reveal any kind of inflammation in lungs is also done.
Pneumonia is a possible complication. Some people also may have sinusitis.

Treatment of acute bronchitis includes:
- Albuterol inhalation helps to dilate the bronchial tubes.
- Short-term steroid therapy will help minimize inflammation within the bronchial tubes.
- Steam inhalation.
- Take plenty of rest.
- Take antibiotics if the color of the phlegm changes.
- Fluid intake should be sufficient.
- Increase the humidity of the environment.
- Generally, acute bronchitis is usually caused by viruses, antibiotics do not help.

To prevent acute bronchitis:
- wash hands regularly.
- quit smoking.

Recovery is a temporary journey of re-adjustment during which the mind and body are allowed to undergo an amazing healing process. Withdrawal effects of giving up smoking surface almost immediately after you have called it quits. During the initial phase the effects may present themselves in an intense shape. But, there is no need to worry much about it. These effects subside as time passes.
The first few weeks after quitting smoking are usually the most difficult and it’s safe to say that it normally takes at least 8-12 weeks before a person starts to feel comfortable with their new lifestyle change of being an ex-smoker.

Nicotine Withdrawal Symptoms :

- Cravings to smoke : Cravings for a cigarette are frequent and intense within the first two to three days after stopping. The cravings become less frequent over the next four or five days, but they may increase again and persist for many weeks. Deep breathing and immediate activity will help distract you from your craving. The worst of the cravings usually end within a couple of weeks after breaking free.
- Irritable, cranky : When the nicotine level declines, your body begins to sense the loss. This can cause tension and be symptomatic of the grief process. Deep breathing and exercise will help relieve irritability.
- Insomnia : Your sleeping patterns may be affected once you stop smoking. Difficulties in sleeping will occur due to the absence of nicotine in the brain. Furthermore, lack of sleep will affect your moods in the daytime and also leave you feeling tired and drained.
- Inability to Concentrate : Take regular short breaks from what you are doing, try to eat healthy energizing foods such as fresh fruit and vegetables, drink lots of water to keep the brain hydrated, exercise or keep active and get plenty of fresh air.
- Headache : Half an aspirin should do the trick, but beforehand try to relieve the tension by carrying out a few deep breathing exercises, drinking a glass of water, taking a relaxing bath, going for a gentle walk in the fresh air or lying down for 15 minutes or so. As a last resort take the aspirin.
- Cough : Drinking water and sucking boiled sweets may help to ease the cough, loosen the mucus in your lungs, keep your throat moist and flush the toxins out of your system.
- Tiredness : To boost your energy levels, avoid sugary and processed foods, drink lots of water, snack on seeds, nuts or dried fruit, go for a short but brisk walk if you are feeling tired, take a break from what you are doing and relax and make sure that you eat a good healthy breakfast, which will keep you going at least through the morning.
- Sore throat : A small number of people who stop smoking are affected by chemical changes in their mouths and may suffer minor problems including blisters, sores, and inflammation.
- Constipation, gas, stomach pain : Try to eat fiber-rich foods and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables; prunes are good, drink 8 glasses of water a day and carry out some gentle exercise to stimulate your bowels. Some say that eating chocolate helps too.
- Tightness in the chest : This happens because your body is getting more fresh air than usual. The extra air fills the lungs and makes them feel tighter. This symptom should last for only a day or two after stopping. See your doctor if it persists.
- Tingling sensations : After giving up smoking, your circulation will improve, as more of your smaller blood vessels will open up allowing more oxygen to flow through you body.
- Fatigue
- Dry mouth
- Sore tongue and/or gums
- Postnasal drip

Fatigue is a bit difficult to define, and can be also called lethargy, exhaustion, listleness, languor, or languidness; essentially it can be used to define a state in which a person essentially feels tired, either mentally or physically. There are many reasons that can lead to fatigue.
The main cause of fatigue is lowered vitality or lack of energy due to wrong feeding habits. The habitual use of refined foods such as white sugar, refined cereals, white flour products, and processed foods have very bad effect on the system in general. Foods ‘denatured’ in this way are deprived, to a very great extent, of their invaluable vitamins and minerals.
A specific character trait, compulsiveness, can lead to continuous fatigue. Many persons constantly feel that they cannot take rest until they finish everything that needs to be done at one time. These persons are usually tense and cannot relax unless they complete the whole job, no matter how tired they may be.
Certain physical and mental conditions can cause fatigue. These include anaemia, intestinal worms, low blood pressure, low blood sugar, any kind of infection in the body, liver damage, allergy to foods and drugs, insomnia, mental tension, and unresolved emotional problems.
Poisons and toxins resulting from air, soil, and water pollution can also lead to fatigue.

NATURAL HOME REMEDIES :
* Eat small mid-meals at 11 a.m., 4 p.m. and before retiring to bed.
* Seeds, nuts and grains, fruits and vegetables should be included in the diet.
* Sprouts increase nutritional value of foods and create new vitamins.
* Deficiency of Vitamin B and Pantothenic acid causes fatigue.
* Banana, milk, nuts, green leafy vegetables, peas, pulses, whole-grain cereals, rice polishing and yeast should be consumed for the same.
* Calcium, potassium, zinc, sodium and other minerals are also beneficial.
* A combination of carrot juice, beetroot juice and cucumber juice helps overcome fatigue.
* Alcohol, coffee, smoking, eating sweets, aspirin, tranquilizer and other drugs which give only a temporary boost should be avoided.
* Dates (Khajur) are great sources of instant energy. These should be taken regularly along with a glass of milk.
* Add a pinch of cardamom powder to a cup of tea. This relieves physical strain and trounces tiredness.
* Soak 5-6 almond kernels in water overnight. Next morning, drain water and collect the kernels. Remove the husk by rubbing. Grind all the kernels into a fine paste. Mix it with equal quantities of powdered sugar candy and fresh butter. Take this recipe early in the morning along with a cup of milk. It tones up the brain and cures chronic cold, cough, headache etc, provided the recipe is taken continuously over a long period. Also, it acts as a general tonic and relieves physical and mental strain.
* Take time for a little fun and frolic each day, and your tired feeling will disappear. Never let a day go by that you do not enjoy life. Put a little bit of vacation in every day not just into every year.
