Wilson’s disease is also known medically as hepatolenticular degeneration which is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder. In this disorder copper accumulates in tissues.

Overview
- This manifests as neurological or psychiatric symptoms and liver disease.
- It is treated with medication that reduces copper absorption
- Medication that removes the excess copper from the body also can be used.
- Occasionally a liver transplant is required for this disorder.
- The condition is due to mutations in the Wilson disease protein (ATP7B) gene.
- A single abnormal copy of the gene is present in 1 in 100 people.
- If a child inherits the gene from both parents, the child may develop Wilson’s disease.
- Symptoms usually appear between the ages of 6 and 20 years.
- Wilson’s disease occurs in 1 to 4 per 100,000 people.
- Wilson’s disease is named after Samuel Alexander Kinnier Wilson (1878–1937) who was the British neurologist who first described this condition in 1912.
- This condition is most common in eastern Europeans, Sicilians, and southern Italians.
- A small amount of copper obtained from food is needed to stay healthy, but excess copper is poisonous.
- High copper levels can cause life-threatening organ damage.

In Wilson disease, copper builds up in:
- the liver
- brain
- kidneys
- eyes
- other organs

Who gets Wilson disease?
- Patients who inherit two abnormal copies of the ATP7B gene, one from each parent.
- Who have only one copy of the abnormal gene, do not have symptoms.
- Most people with Wilson disease have no known family history of the disease.
- A person’s chances of having Wilson disease increase if one or both parents have it.
- It equally affects men and women.
- Symptoms usually appear between ages 5 to 35.
- New cases have been reported in people aged 2 to 72 years.

What causes Wilson disease?
- Wilson disease is caused by a buildup of copper in the body.
- Normally, copper from the diet is filtered out by the liver.
- It is then released into bile.
- This then flows out of the body through the gastrointestinal tract.
- People who have Wilson disease cannot release copper from the liver at a normal rate.
- This is due to a mutation of the ATP7B gene.
- When the copper storage capacity of the liver is exceeded, copper is released into the bloodstream.
- It travels to other organs—including the brain, kidneys, and eyes.

The deposits of copper causes:
- tissue damage.
- death of the tissues.
- scarring of the tissue.

There are a lot of things one can do to get to a good healthy body. You can have a whole book dedicated to tips for maintaining a good health, but in today’s fast paced life, everybody looks for a summary rather than a whole novel. What we will try to do in this post is to look at some of the most common issues that can affect health and provide suggestions on how to overcome these issues.

- One of the major problem that a person face now-a-days is falling hair. Protein is very essential for maintaining good hair. To reduce hair fall, including good quality protein like soyabean or egg whites in the daily diet is very important. Also, taking vitamin B12 and consuming Brewer yeast tablets can help in reducing hair fall.

- Diabetes is getting so common now-a-days. Every second person is suffering from this disease. There are some simple tips that one can do at home to treat diabetes. One teaspoon of jamun powder or fenugreek seeds(methi) in the morning helps to reduce diabetes. Maintaining a good and healthy lifestyle is the most important measure that needs to be taken if one wants to get rid of this disease. Consumption of excess fat from your diet will improve the body’s insulin resistance.

- Constipation is another problem that people are facing now-a-days. To a greater extent, today’s lifestyle is responsible for an irregular bowel functioning. Consumption of junk food is increasing and also the stress level of the human being. Some simple tips to control constipation is to drink plenty of water daily and reduce the caffeine intake. Daily exercise which included walking for at least 45 min to 60 min is important. Also, include fresh vegetable juice in your diet.

- Dull skin can be a fairly common issue now-a-days. Some simple ways to address this issue is by ensuring that you drink enough water and fluids during the day to keep your skin hydrated. Drinking fresh vegetable juice and eating multiple servings of green vegetables and fruits during the day is also required. This needs to be supplemented with adequate amount of proteins, vitamin E and omega 3 supplements.

- To improve cardio vascular health, daily exercise which may include walking for atleast 45 min to 60 min at least 4-5 times a week is very important. In addition to walking, yoga and some breathing exercises three times a week reduces any kind of stress. In your diet, include one or two tbsp of roasted flaxseeds as it helps to increase the good cholesterol levels in the body.

- To improve metabolism, the most important tip that can be followed is eating during the first hour of having woken up. Walking is also very important to improve metabolism. Protein digestion asks the body to burn more calories and hence increasing the metabolism. So, include protein in your diet.

- To increase energy and immunity, instead of taking three big meals like breakfast, lunch, dinner, eat small frequent meals. It improves the digestion and keeps your body energetic. Include vitamin B12 supplements and wheat grass juice at least three to four times in a week.

- Discomfort during menopause is very common. To reduce it, include soya supplement in your diet as it mimics the estrogen function in the body. Also, include vitamin B6 as it prevents bloating.

There are two types of advance action in the colon:
- Noncancerous growths, such as polyps
- Malignant or annihilative growths, which usually activate as polyps

- Polyps
Colorectal blight can come in action after polyps, but this is attenuate and accounts for more than 1% of all colorectal cancers diagnosed in the US anniversary year. It usually happens in individuals with abiding anarchic bowel diseases, such as abiding ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s colitis.
Intestinal polyps are masses of tissue that appear from the abdominal bank and beetle into the lumen (the autogenous amplitude of the intestine). It’s not bright what produces polyps, but they appear to be acquired by both ecology and biogenetic factor. Cigarette smoking, diets that are top in fat and low in fibre, abridgement of exercise, and blubber may all accord to polyp growth.

Most cancers in the colon and rectum are adenocarcinomas. “Adeno” agency “gland,” and colorectal adenocarcinomas appear in aberrant gland beef that anatomy in the close lining of the colon or rectum. About three-quarters of cancers action in the colon and one-quarter in the rectum.

There are added forms of colorectal cancer:
-Sarcomas (tumors that activate in affiliated tissue)
- Lymphomas (tumors that activate in the aqueous system)
- Rare cancers such as carcinoids and gastrointestinal stromal tumors

Polyps and Blight Spread
Polyps abound boring and may at aboriginal be benign. However, because they may become annihilative over time, they should be removed. Once a polyp becomes cancerous, it starts to access the abdominal bank and may advance into adjacent lymph nodes. From there it can access into the aqueous arrangement and advance to areas abroad from the aboriginal site, or “metastasize.” Annihilative colorectal beef can swell access into capillaries and drift via the bloodstream and lot of to the liver. There, the beef may anatomy new tumors.

Types of Polyps
There are three types of polyps:
- Adenomatous polyps (sometimes referred to as adenomas)
- Hyperplastic polyps
- Inflammatory polyps

Adenomatous polyps account for about 10% of all colonic polyps, but there are the greatest chances of them to become cancerous. Fortunately, they abound slowly: an adenomatous polyp just beneath bisected an inch (10 mm) in bore takes 5-10 years to become dangerous. Adenomatous polyps are disconnected into three altered subtypes: bearded (hairy), tubular, and tubulovillous..

Polyps also appear in altered shapes: pedunculated or sessile. Pedunculated polyps accept ample stalks, like mushrooms, and can be calmly removed during a colonoscopy. Sessile polyps accept ample bases and abound collapsed adjoin the bank of the intestine, authoritative their abatement difficult.

The Aqueous System
The aqueous arrangement works in concert with the allowed arrangement and has several functions in the body. The aqueous system:
- Combats invasive adopted bodies like bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
- Drains interstitial aqueous aback into the bloodstream from the tissues.
- Filters lymph.
- Filters the blood.

The aqueous arrangement includes the aqueous vessels, lymph, lymph nodes, spleen, thymus, cartilage marrow, and a few added organs.
- Aqueous argosy anatomy is an array of alongside circulatory system, aberration throughout the tissues of the body.
- Lymph circulates through body tissues picking up fats, bacteria, and other unwanted materials, filtering these substances out through the lymphatic system. Lymph carries ample numbers of lymphocytes (white claret cells).
- Lymph nodes begin in the armpits, on either ancillary of the groin, on either ancillary of the neck, and in the abdomen, pelvis, and chest. Lymph nodes clarify the lymph aqueous as it passes through it and macrophages central the lymph nodes annihilate intruders, such as bacteria.
- The annoyance produces lymphocytes and filters the blood.
- The thymus helps to aftermath white claret cells.
- Cartilage is a type of connective tissue in the body. Cartilage is avascular, meaning that it is not supplied by blood vessels; instead, nutrients diffuse through the matrix. If blight beef breach off a tumor, they generally become trapped in the abutting lymph node.

Diet and nutrition is responsible for a healthy body. When it comes to pancreatic cancer, there are certain food items that can help in preventing pancreatic cancer in the long run. Not only this, it is the choice of your food that can either kill the cancer germs or can promote the growth of it too. So, it becomes very necessary for the people who are exposed to risk factors of pancreatic cancer to decide about what to eat. In order to be safe for a very long period, it is necessary for such people to have a cancer diet for their own optimal wellness.
Following are the functional food items that a person can include in his/her healthy diet:
• Green Tea
Tea is most common drink in Asia but when it is replaced with Green Tea, its effects and nutrition not only helps in reducing the pancreatic cancer cells but also helps in weight loss. And both the positive effects have been scientifically proven and the facts that came out were “Men who drank the most green tea had a 37% lower risk of developing pancreatic cancer”. The Reason behind this protective behaviour is that Green Tea contains high concentration of catechins which are photochemical compounds that are highly effective in the protection of cells against the DNA damage caused by free radicals. It also helps in suppressing a type of enzyme called urokinase that plays a major role in the growth rate of cancer cells. It is suggested that while buying green tea, it should be bought in loose leaves form rather than in tea bags as loose leaves retains more catechins than a tea bag. To enhance the effect of catechins to get fully absorbed in the body, it can be added along with green tea.

• Salmon
It is loaded with omega-3 fats which is also a protective shield against the pancreatic cancer. Another nutrient is astaxanthin which is a caretenoid that makes salmon pink in color which is also an anti-oxidant. Excessive usage of Salmon in your diet saves you from toxins like mercury and pesticides.

• Raspberries
Apart from the fact that it is very low in calories, it is clinically prove that daily usage of fresh red raspberries in your diet surely prevents pancreatic cancer as it has high amount of ellagic acid which has benefits like anti-carcinogen, an inhibitor of cancer and anti-mutagen.

• Jalapeno Peppers
Jalapeno is a great source of vitamin B6, so it is recommended as an anti-pancreatic cancer vitamin. It provides nutrients like folate, beta-carotene and vitamin C, which are responsible in killing energy factories of pancreatic cancer without affecting healthy cells.

• Turmeric
Turmeric has a compound that can recognize potential cancer germs by their unusual chemistry and as a result encourage self-destruction of these dreadful germs without hurting healthy cells. It has positive anti-oxidant compounds and prevents formation of aflatoxin and nitrosamine which increases cancer risks.

• Carrots
Carrots are known for Vitamin A and their positive effects on eyes, but they are also a rich source of beta-carotene and falcarinol that are able to reduce the growth of cancer in the body. It is advisable to consume them as steamed or chopped in order to retain the falcarinol.

• Cabbage
Cabbage is also an enriched source of vitamin C, along with that it also has folate and Vitamin B6 due to which it forms glucosinolates when chopped or sliced and chewed. Glucosinolates are anti-carcinogens compounds that inhibit DNA damage and cell mutation. It is suggested to consume organically grown cabbage.

• Cherries
Cherries produce a compound that is enriched with Perillyl Alcohol (POH), which prevents the growth of pancreatic cancer cells. It is advisable to consume organically produced cherries which retains the nutrients.

• Sweet Potatoes
Because of nutrients like beta-carotene and vitamin C, Sweet potatoes can protect the body against pancreatic cancer germs as it possesses highly anti-oxidant properties.

• Broccoli
Broccoli’s nutrients help in preventing DNA mutation, growth of starting tumor into giant tic tumor and also cancer cells development. Broccoli sprouts eliminates carcinogenic toxins from an organ to another. It should be consumed as raw or slightly steamed to take advantage of its anti-cancer properties.

Curry leaves are also referred to as curry patta in Hindi. The curry leaves are produced from the plant whose scientific name is Murraya Koenigi. The leaves of the curry leaves have a dark green color and the leaves are very aromatic with a slightly bitter flavor. These leaves are mostly used in the dishes of Southern India. Although curry leaves are used in various south Indian dishes, they also work as medicines for many problems. The curry leaves have a moisture content of 66.3 %, protein 6.1 %, fiber 6.4 %, carbohydrates 16 %, and minerals 4.2 % per 100 grams. They also contain calcium, phosphorous, iron, vitamin C and nicotinic acid.
Curry leaves have many health benefits, the first one being that of helping cure the digestive problems. A mixture of curry leaves and cumin seeds is added to butter milk and is taken in order to cure digestive disorders. Curry leaves gradually reduces the secretion of the alpha-amylase enzyme in your digestive system. This enzyme is responsible for breaking down of the starch in to simple sugar (glucose). By adding curry leaves to our diet, the body will slow down the process of starch breakdown hence maintaining the sugar level. These leaves are very beneficial for the skin burns and are also useful in curing insect bites. The juice of curry leaves when used as eye drops, helps in delaying cataract and also in giving a brighter look to your eyes and a better eye sight.
Curry leaves also promotes hair growth. Curry leaves when heated along with hair oil and applied on the hair and left overnight helps retaining the original color of the hair. This oil also nourishes the hair and also helps in hair growth. Curry leaves are very helpful in reducing the bad breath. Curry leaves have a content of 2.6 % of volatile essential oils, beta-carotene, folic acid, calcium, zinc, chlorophyll and riboflavin which are essential for maintaining a good oral health. When chewed along with water for around 5 minutes, they act as a very effective mouthwash.
Diabetic patients can add curry leaves to their diet or they can also chew it separately. Practicing this for three months will show great results in treating diabetes due to hereditary or obesity factors. Nausea can also be treated using curry leaves. A mixture of curry leaves juice, half teaspoon of line juice and one teaspoon of honey can be very helpful in treating nausea. The dosage of this mixture should depend on the severity of nausea. The antioxidants present in curry leaves fight against cancerous cells hence preventing the chances of cancer. Curry leaves are also quite beneficial in lowering the level of cholesterol in our bodies.
Intake of curry leaves on a regular basis can help you lose weight. It has properties that reduce the stored fats of your body. This should be followed by a healthy and good diet and exercise regime. Apart from weight loss curry leaves also have properties to treat the problem of piles. Curry leaves also have some medicinal properties which can cure kidney and biliary pains. Curry leaves are a great remedy for pregnant women suffering from vomiting and nausea.
People suffering from acne prone and dull skin can also use curry leaves for effective results. Making a paste of curry leaves with turmeric and applying it on your face will cure acne and give your skin a glow in a couple of days itself. Curry leaves are used worldwide as a natural herb for medicinal purpose and as a spice because of its strong aroma.

In today’s fast paced world, the amount of time that people spend on anything is measured and evaluated against what they could be spending time on something else. So, in offices, given shortage of time, people do working lunches to economize on time. Even otherwise, people are in a rush most of the time, running from place to place. Meal times are restricted, and sometimes the meal could be anything that can be picked up on the go and eaten. The importance of stuff such as burgers and pizzas is much more now, since they promise and quick and ready meal, that can make the stomach seem full (although the health implications of regular meals such as this one can be bad for the body).
These have implications for the digestion system of the body, and results in people suffering from digestion issues on a much higher basis than previously. Time for people to slow down and ensure that they eat their meals properly and not in a hurry (after all, you could have proper food that is also healthy from a nutritional value and yet wolf it down). This is something to be avoided, and if you are really interested in your good health, make sure that you eat your food at a normal speed, not quickly wolfing it down (link to article):

So, you are eating just the right kind of food, at the right time and at regular intervals; but the much nagging concern of weight gain does not seem to leave you?
Well, you are surely not alone who is facing this issue and there are numerous people in this category for whom weight loss just isn’t coming easy. Interestingly, eating fast is directly related to the amount of weight gain for many people and it is surely something that people trying out various weight-loss regimes should keep in mind.

Fatty acids are organic compounds composed of carbon chains of varying lengths, with an acid group on one end and hydrogen bound to all the carbons of the chain. Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are those that are necessary for health, but cannot be synthesized by the body.
The typical American diet tends to contain 14 – 25 times more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids. The Mediterranean diet, on the other hand, has a healthier balance between omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.
Omega 3 fatty acids actually reduce inflammation and Omegas 6s increase inflammation, it’s important to have a balanced diet to offset Omega 6 inflammatory affects.
Imbalance between the intakes of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids causes inflammation if the intake of Omega-6 is more than Omega-3.
This dietary imbalance may lead to the rise of diseases as :
- asthma
- coronary heart disease
- many forms of cancer
- autoimmunity and neurodegenerative diseases, all of which are believed to stem from inflammation in the body.
- obesity
- depression
- dyslexia
- hyperactivity and even a tendency toward violence.
Cut down on omega-6 levels by reducing consumption of processed and fast foods and polyunsaturated vegetable oils. At home, use extra virgin olive oil for cooking and in salad dressings.

Dietary Sources:
Sources of omega-6 fatty acids are numerous in modern diets.
- Olive Oil
- Wheatgerm
- Grapeseeds
- Pistachios
- Sesame Oil
- Hempseed Oil
- Pumpkin Seeds
- Chia Seed Oil
- Safflower Oil
- Sunflower Oil
- Cottonseed Oil
- Raw Nuts & Seeds

Uses and Benefits of Omega-6 Fatty acids

- Taking gamma linolenic acid (GLA) for 6 months or more may reduce symptoms of nerve pain in people with diabetic neuropathy.
- Some studies have shown that taking primrose oil helps reduce symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis.
- Children with Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) have lower levels of EFAs, both omega-6s and omega-3s. EFAs are important to normal brain and behavioral function.
- GLA may help reduce high blood pressure, either alone or in combination with omega-3 fatty acids.
- Evening primrose oil may reduce breast pain and tenderness in people with cyclic mastalgia.
