What is meant by Endometriosis?

• Endometriosis is a condition that affects the reproductive system and pelvic area of a woman’s body.
• Endometriosis is associated with the menstrual cycle and the hormones that trigger menstruation.
• The disease begins when little particles that resemble the uterus lining build towards the pelvic cavity.
• These particles start functioning like the lining of the uterus known as endometrium.
• The endometrium responds to the hormones in the body and prepares by accumulating blood cells and other important chemicals every month for a possible pregnancy.
• If pregnancy does not take place, the blood is shed through the menstrual period.
• The particles that travel to the pelvic cavity also function and start reacting to hormones in the same way.
• The blood that is shed from these growths cannot leave the body which can lead to internal bleeding and inflammation.
• This can go on for months and even for years before symptoms of pain and discomfort start to be noticed.
• Many women experience worsening pain during menstruation during this phase.

9. Motherwort
• They help to regulate hormonal levels.
• The herb, motherwort, helps to enhance blood volume in the reproductive system.
• It also stimulates better functioning and in combating menstrual problems such as blood clots or poor flow.
• To prepare motherwort tea, add a teaspoon of the dried herb to a cup of hot water and allow it to steep for about 15 minutes.
• Drink about three cups of the tea daily.

10. Chamomile
• Chamomile helps to alleviate severe cramping and pain during menstruation.
• This is often associated with endometriosis.
• This tea also helps to relieve stomach troubles.
• The herb may be used in the form of capsules, tincture or tea.

Diet for Endometriosis

• The compounds called indoles are present in vegetables such as kale, broccoli and cauliflower which help to control the metabolism of estrogen.
• Flaxseeds may be useful in the treatment of endometriosis as they are found to improve in conditions associated with estrogen.
• Omega-3 fatty acids may help to slow down the growth of abnormal endometrial tissue.
• They are present in fish such as sardines, salmon and tuna.
• Fish oil capsules also help to boost the intake of omega 3 fatty acids.
• By combining herbs such as wild yam root, horsetail, red clover blossoms and red raspberry leaves, a beneficial herbal tea for endometriosis can be made.
• Combine all the herbs and add them to water and bring to a boil and then let it simmer for five minutes, then cover and allow it to cool and then Strain and drink.
• This tea may be consumed twice every day for a period of two weeks.

Women can obtain relief with acupuncture treatment. There are some points to apply pressure like:
• Midway between inside anklebone and Achilles tendon in back of ankle.
• Four fingers below kneecap, one finger outside shinbone.
• Four fingers below belly button.
• Sacral points at base of spine.
• Three fingers below belly button.
• Middle of pelvic crease where leg joins trunk.

Endometriosis Herbs

• Goldenseal
• Dandelion (fresh leaves can be used in salad)
• Artichoke
• Silybum (milkthistle)
• Burdock (the variety known as gobo root can be eaten)
- Take these herbs single or in combination twice daily in the form of:
• 2 tsp. extract
• 2-3 capsules
• 1 cup infusion
- To improve pelvic circulation
• Xanthoxylon
• Ocotillo
• Goldenseal
• Witch hazel
- Take these herbs twice daily in the form of
• 1 tsp. extract
• 1-2 capsules
• 1/2 cup infusion
- To balance estrogen production
• Take chaste-tree berry (Vitex)
- Take this once or twice daily in the form of
• 2 tsp.extract
• 2-3 capsules

- To calm the pain
• Crampbark
• Black haw
• Valerian

• 1 tsp.extract
