What is Chicken Pox?
• Chicken pox is a viral infection which is very common and highly contagious disease.
• Newborns and adults may experience more severe symptoms than children.
• Vaccinations have reduced its incidence.
• The symptoms for chicken pox do not appear until the infectious stage.
• This virus is transmitted by air (coughing or sneezing) or physical contact with a sick person.
• A pimple like eruptions appear on the body which are filled with fluid and look like blisters.
• They crust all over the body.
• During this period itching persists and scratching them can lead to infection and scarring.
• Chicken pox normally starts and finishes in about two weeks.

Symptoms for Chicken Pox
The initial symptoms are:
• Fever
• Fatigue
• Itchy rash
• Loss of appetite

Home Remedies for Chicken pox

8. Chicken Pox treatment using Herbal Tea
• A mild sedative herbal tea can also prove beneficial in the treating chicken pox.
• A little cinnamon (cinnamon), honey, and lemon may be added to this tea.
• 1t should be sipped slowly several times a day.

This tea can be prepared from any of the herbs like:
• chamomile (babunah)
• basil (holy basil)
• marigold (zergul)
• lemon balm (billilotan)

9. Chicken Pox treatment using Catnip tea and molasses
• Use Catnip tea sweetened with molasses
• It reduces fever.

10. Chicken Pox treatment using Cold water and ginger
• Fill the bath tub with cool water.
• Add ginger to it.
• Take a 30 minute bath.
• This helps stop the itching.

11. Chicken Pox treatment using special herbal tea
- Make a tea with:
• 2 tbs. of queen of the meadow
• 1 tsp. of coltsfoot leaves
• 2 tsp. of marigold flowers
• 2 cups of boiling water

o Let it sit in a nonmetallic pot by mixing all ingredients for 20 minutes.
o Take one cup a day.

12. Chicken Pox treatment using Marigold flowers
- Mix
• 2 tbs. marigold flowers
• 1 tsp. witch hazel leaves
• 1 cup of water

o Let them sit over night.
o Apply on rash as needed.
o This will relieve the itch of chicken pox.

Homeopathic Remedies for treatment of chicken pox

Some very useful homeopathic remedies are:
• Antimonium crudum
• Antimonium tartaricum
• Pulsatilla
• Sulphur
• Rhus tox

Herbs for treatment of chicken pox

Some very powerful herbs are:
• St. John’s wort
• Pau d’arco
• Ginger
• Burdock root
• Echinacea
• Goldenseal

Water for treatment of chicken pox

• Drink lot of water to prevent dehydration.
• Drink lot of fresh juices.

Dietaries for Chicken Pox

- Raw Fruit and Vegetable Juices and Lemon Juice
• The patient should be put on a juice diet for a few days.
• Give plenty of raw fruits and vegetable juices.
• Lemon juice is considered to be beneficial.

- All-fruit Diet and Well-balanced Diet
• The patient can be placed on an all-fruit diet for the next few days.

- Other treatments
1. Warm-water enema

• The patient should be kept in a well-ventilated room.
• The patient should shade his eyes from the direct light
• The room should have subdued light.

3. Mud pack application on abdomen
• Application of mud packs on the abdomen twice a day is beneficial.
• Do this in the morning and evening.
• Repeated applications of chest packs will be beneficial.

4. Lukewarm water baths with Margosa leaves.
• Lukewarm water baths can be given every day.
• This will help to relieve itching.
• Margosa (Neem) leaves can be added to this water for better results.
• The nails of the child should be kept clipped.
• This is to prevent him from scratching and germs on the skin may be scratched into the blisters.
• This will cause more severe infection.

Home Remedies for Chicken pox

1. Chicken Pox treatment using Brown Vinegar
• The use of brown vinegar is found beneficial in the treatment of chicken pox.
• Half a cup of this vinegar should be added to a bath of warm water.
• This will relieve the irritation of the skin.

2. Chicken Pox treatment using Oatmeal
• A bath of oatmeal is considered a natural remedy.
• This helps relieving the itch due to chicken pox.
• This bath is prepared by cooking two cups of oatmeal in two liters of water for fifteen minutes.
• This mixture is then put into a cotton cloth bag and a string is tied tightly around the top.
• This bag is allowed to float in a tub of warm water until the water becomes turbid.
• Ensure that the bag is not torn.
• The child with chicken pox can splash and play in the water.
• The pouch of oatmeal can remain in the tub.

3. Chicken Pox treatment using Pea Water
• Green pea water is another effective remedy.
• This will help in relieving irritation of the skin.
• The water in which fresh peas have been cooked can be used.

4. Chicken Pox treatment using Baking Soda
• Baking soda is a remedy to control the itching in chicken pox.
• Some baking soda should be put in a glass of water.
• The child should be sponged with this water.
• The soda dries on the skin and keeps the child away from scratching the eruptions.

5. Chicken Pox treatment using Vitamin E Oil
• The use of vitamin E oil is valuable in relieving irritation associated with chicken pox.
• This oil should be rubbed on the skin.
• It will have a healing effect and fade the marks left by chicken pox due to this application.

6. Chicken Pox treatment using Honey
• The use of honey as an external application has also proved valuable.
• The skin should be smeared with honey.
• This will help in the healing of the disease by about three days.

7. Chicken Pox treatment using Carrot and Coriander
• A soup prepared from carrots and coriander has been found beneficial in the treating chicken pox.
• About 100 gm of carrots and 60 gm of fresh coriander should be cut into small pieces.
• Boil all of them for a while.
• The residue should be discarded.
• This soup should be taken once a day for benefit.
