What are the health Benefits of Leaves of Beluntas?



Beluntas is commonly known as Luntas in java, Luan Yi in China, Lamutasa in Makassar, Baluntas in Madura, Lenaboui in the East, Baruntas in Sunda, and Beluntas in Indonesia and Sumatra. It is a shrub that comes from the family of Asteraceae/ Compositae which has many branches which are fluffy, and that grows to a height of approximately 2 meters. It is also called the Indian camphor weed in English and it has a very peculiar scent due to which it is many times used as a deodorant. The shrub needs lot of sunshine and a dry area to grow properly. These shrubs are mostly found in barren lands and in case they are planted in the house they are planted around the fencing. The leaves of Beluntas have many health benefits which will be discussed further.
The leaves of Beluntas contains components like volatile oils, flavonoids, alkaloids, chlorogenik acid, tannins, aluminum, sodium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, atsiri oil and many more. Following are some health benefits of the leaves of Beluntas:
• Leaves of the Beluntas plant are used to remove body odor. This can be done by boiling the leaves in water and then drinking that water with salt added. This drink can be taken around three top four times a week for quicker and effective results.
• For people suffering from a poor appetite, the Beluntas leaves can prove to be very beneficial. For this purpose these leaves can be mixed with rice or porridge. It also helps lower the body temperature of a patient suffering from fever. The leaves can be soaked in warm water and after draining the water it can be drunk.
• It is very essential for improving digestion in healing disturbance caused in the intestine. For this purpose the leaves can be mixed with the rice and can be eaten. This mixture improves digestion quite quickly.
• Leaves of Beluntas are also used as an effective mouth freshener. They can be taken raw for this purpose. Beluntas leaves are also helpful in treating wounds scabies or irritations on the skin and ulcers or inflammations. In order to treat ulcers, inflammations and irritations on the skin, the paste of these leaves can be applied on the affected areas.
• It is helpful in relieving lower back pain and also cervical tuberculous lymphadenitis. The leaves are softened by steaming them up along with sea grass and the cow skin gelatine and then eaten in order to treat the cervical tuberculous lymphadenitis.
• When the leaves are brewed as tea and taken, it is said to reduce perspiration problem very effectively and it is also said to lower the internal heat of the body.
• Arthritis pain and asteodinia (pain in a bone) can be treated using the Beluntas leaves. Females suffering from irregular periods and extra discharge of vaginal fluid can also intake Beluntas leaves in order to cure this problem.
• People suffering from waist pain can use Beluntas leaves to reduce it effectively and quickly.
The Beluntas leaves are used widely for various medication purposes and are said to treat many problems quite easily and effectively within no time. Another name given to this shrub is Pluchea Indica. The plant to which the Beluntas leaves belong contain a small flower of purple color. These leaves are said to be widely used as Jamoo which means traditional medication in Javanese. Not only the leaves of the Pluchea Indica but also the other parts like the stem, root, flower and even the whole crop contains various medicinal and herbal properties for which it is used in treating various problems related to health.

Wild Ginger is a plant which belongs to the family named Aristolochiaceae Birthwort. The scientific name of wild ginger is Asarurn Canadense. It has numerous health benefits for which it is used worldwide as an herb for many medications. This plant is commonly found in North America and Australia. The plant has heart shaped leaves which have a glossy texture. Wild ginger is a perennial plant which grows in shaded areas. It contains components like volatile oils, methyl eugenol, borneol, linalool, pinene, geraniol, pungent resin, gum, starch, asarol (which is the component responsible for the fragrance of the plant) and the last component is fixed oil. Following are some of the benefits of the wild ginger plant:
• Common benefit of wild ginger is that it is very beneficial in treating an upset stomach. Nausea and vomiting can also be treated using wild ginger.
• Stomach ulcers can be treated effectively with the help of wild ginger. Not only stomach ulcers but also many of the kidney problems and disorders can be treated by the use of wild ginger. The inflammation caused by arthritis is also reduced by wild ginger.

What are the health Benefits of Yohimbe (Pausinystalia Yohimbe)?

Yohimbe is actually a West African tree with the botanical name of Pausinystalia Yohimbe and other common names like Johimbe, Yohimbine and Corynanthe Yohimbe. It belongs to the family Rubiaceae. The bark of Pausinystalia Yohimbe contains a chemical substance which is called as Yohimbine and is also effectively used in medicines. Its bark is medicinally used to assist in infertility and impotency. In fact, it is considered a sexual stimulant, an aphrodisiac and a sexual rejuvenator.

Origin: As written earlier, it is basically found in West Africa and to be precise, the evergreen tree grows in the rainforest areas of Nigeria, Zaire, Cameroon, Gabon and Congo. It is a very popular ingredient in European and American countries and as a matter of fact, European and American Pharmaceutical companies like Yocon, are generating an enormous demand for supplies of yohimbe bark.

Historical Usage: Yohimbe is used for long for complaints against fever and leprosy. Primarily, it is also being used because of its aphrodisiac properties. In Europe, since the middle of twentieth century, it has been utilized for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. In fact, according to the ” Encyclopaedia of Alternative Medicine”, it was commended by U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1980s as a cure for erectile dysfunction.

Modern Usage: Nowadays, Yohimbe is not only exercised for erectile dysfunction but to awaken sexual excitement and to cure other sexual problems caused by the medications for depression which is known as Selective-Serotien Reuptake inhibitors(SSRIs) and other general sexual problems in both men and women. It is also very helpful in athletic pain, weight loss, chest pain, exhaustion, low as well as high blood pressure that generally occur while standing up, depression and for diabetic nerve’s pain.

Facts and Effects: Again, as per the ”Encyclopaedia of Alternative Medicine”, Yohimbine has been effectual in 30 to 40 percent of men suffering from erectile dysfunction problem. But of course, it does not help if the damage has been done to the nerve. Consuming it as a sexual relieve, it may enhance stamina and prolong erections too. It is used as an aid to weight loss, and various studies have been done that reveals that Yohimbine may also be helpful for narcolepsy as well.
On a nutritional quotient, it has alkaloid constituents that blocks the part of sympathetic nervous system and dilate the blood vessels. It is also being used as an anaesthetic to dilute pupils in order to prevent hallucinogen, heart disease and an aphrodisiac. It also prevents several depressive disorders as it slows down monoamine oxidase (MAO) and expands blood vessels.

Careful Dosage: The Encyclopaedia of Alternative Medicine sates that Yohimbine is very slow to show effects and precisely, it takes three to six weeks for the standard prescribed dosage of 5.4mg to be effective if taken three times a day. Yohimbine, the chemical that Yohimbe contains, can enhance the nerve impulses and blood flow to the vagina or penis. It also caters to neutralize the sexual side effects of certain medications consumed in case the patients are suffering from depression.

Precautions: The University of Maryland Medical Center has accounted severe case of prolonged erection or intractable priapism in the absence of sexual arousal in the patient’s body who had consumed Yohimbine. It is purely unsafe when consumed through mouth. It is also advisable to not to be consumed by the patients ailing from depression, schizophrenia, anxiety, kidney disease, pregnancy, high blood pressure, liver disease, heart disease or angina pectoris. It has certain side effects too like fast heartbeat, dizziness and confusion. Allergic Reactions may also be possible along with herbal dose. And if the wrong or excess dosage is taken, it can cause mild hallucinations for two to four hours.
