- Eczema is also called as dermatitis.
- It is a group of skin disorders.
- Eczema causes the skin to be inflamed and irritated.
- It occurs mostly in infants and children but adults are no exception.

There are different types of eczema like
- Atopic eczema
- Allergic contact dermatitis
- Irritant contact dermatitis
- Infantile seborrhoeic eczema
- Adult seborrhoeic eczema
- Varicose eczema
- Discoid eczema

Home Remedies for Eczema

Different types of cleansing
19. Herbal Cleansing
- Using herbs to gently purify the digestive and elimination systems of the body.

20. Fasting
- This gives your body and digestion a chance to rest.
- Most people do a vegetable juice fast or a raw vegetable and fruit fast.
- Some brave souls have done water fast but this is more intense and draining for the body.

21. Colonics
- This is a procedure done by a trained professional.
- The professional irrigates the colon with water.
- This helps to release toxins and impurities that may be lodged in the walls of the colon.

22. Water is nature’s #1 natural remedy for eczema
- Drink more water to cleanse and hydrate your body and keep your skin moist and supple.
- Take a steam bath to open pores and hydrate your skin.
- Be sure to moisturize afterwards.
- Use cold compresses to relieve the pain, stinging and itching of eczema inflammations.
- Wrap your skin in a cotton towel that is wetted with cool water to help soothe arms or legs that have a lot of eczema inflammations.

23. Other Home remedies
- Wear cotton clothes, to allow your skin to breathe more easily.
- Some people have found mudpacks to be very effective in treating eczema.
- Another method sometimes used to heal eczema is with light therapy.
- Taking a sun bath is another method.
- Moisturize your skin regularly.
- Use a good hypoallergenic moisturizer.

24. Some homemade pastes and solutions
- Apply a mixture of 1 teaspoon camphor and 1 teaspoon sandalwood paste on the rashes.
- Apply nutmeg paste to the affected areas.
- Put natural vitamin E on the affected skin.
- Zinc taken orally and applied directly on the affected skin is effective.
- Both shark cartilage and lotion of blueberry leaves reduce inflammation.
- Use pine tar soap to wash the affected skin.
- Drink tomato juice daily, it will cure the symptoms in a few days.

25. Homemade Lotion
- Make a lotion out of crushed dandelion leaves, spearmint leaves, and a few drops of oil.
- Apply this lotion to your skin and allow it to remain on for at least 30 minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.
- This can act as an effective eczema cure.

26. Cleansing Scrub
- Make a cleansing scrub by soaking a handful of nuts in a small quantity of water.
- Blend these nuts along with half an avocado as avocados contain healthy oils that help to protect and moisturize your skin.
- Massage your skin gently with this creamy natural exfoliating paste.
- You can then allow it to remain on your skin for about 10 minutes before you rinse it off.
- You can add a few drops of fresh lemon juice to this paste to help cleanse your skin of the uppermost layer of dead skin cells.

27. Papaya paste
- Another useful and easily available ingredient for eczema treatment would be papaya.
- Mashed papaya seeds can be applied to the areas of skin that are affected to reduce the itchiness.

Wilson’s disease is also known medically as hepatolenticular degeneration which is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder. In this disorder copper accumulates in tissues.

Overview
- This manifests as neurological or psychiatric symptoms and liver disease.
- It is treated with medication that reduces copper absorption
- Medication that removes the excess copper from the body also can be used.
- Occasionally a liver transplant is required for this disorder.
- The condition is due to mutations in the Wilson disease protein (ATP7B) gene.
- A single abnormal copy of the gene is present in 1 in 100 people.
- If a child inherits the gene from both parents, the child may develop Wilson’s disease.
- Symptoms usually appear between the ages of 6 and 20 years.
- Wilson’s disease occurs in 1 to 4 per 100,000 people.
- Wilson’s disease is named after Samuel Alexander Kinnier Wilson (1878–1937) who was the British neurologist who first described this condition in 1912.
- This condition is most common in eastern Europeans, Sicilians, and southern Italians.
- A small amount of copper obtained from food is needed to stay healthy, but excess copper is poisonous.
- High copper levels can cause life-threatening organ damage.

In Wilson disease, copper builds up in:
- the liver
- brain
- kidneys
- eyes
- other organs

Treatment of Wilson Disease
- The goal of treatment is to reduce the amount of copper in the tissues.
- This is done by a procedure called chelation.
- This process is where certain medications can bind to copper and help remove it through the kidneys or gut.
- Treatment must be done for lifelong.

The following medications may be used:
- Penicillamine (Cuprimine, Depen) binds to copper and leads to increased release of copper in the urine.
- Trientine (Syprine) binds (chelates) the copper and increases its release through the urine.
- Zinc acetate (Galzin) blocks copper from being absorbed in the intestinal tract.
Vitamin E supplements may also be used.

Risks
- Medications that chelate copper (especially penicillamine) can affect the function of the brain and nervous system (neurological function).
- Other medications under investigation may bind copper without affecting neurological function.
- Lifelong treatment is needed to control Wilson’s disease.
- The disorder may cause fatal effects.
- Loss of liver function and toxic effects of copper on the nervous system are some of the side effects.
- In cases where the disorder is not fatal, symptoms may be disabling.

Dietary Recommendations
A low-copper diet may also be recommended.
Foods to avoid include:
- Chocolate
- Dried fruit
- Liver
- Mushrooms
- Nuts
- Shellfish

Other things to care about:
- You may want to drink distilled water.
- Most tap water flows through copper pipes.
- Avoid using copper cooking utensils.
- Symptoms may be treated with exercise or physical therapy.
- People who are confused or unable to care for themselves may need special protective measures.
- A liver transplant may be considered in cases.
- This is done where the liver is severely damaged by the disease.

Possible Complications:
- Anemia (hemolytic anemia is rare)
- Central nervous system complications
- Cirrhosis
- Death of liver tissues
- Fatty liver
- Hepatitis
- Increased number of bone fractures
- Increased number of infections
- Injury caused by falls
- Jaundice
- Joint contractures or other deformity
- Loss of ability to care for self
- Loss of ability to function at work and home
- Loss of ability to interact with other people
- Loss of muscle mass (muscle atrophy)
- Psychological complications
- Side effects of penicillamine and other medications used to treat the disorder.
- Spleen problems

Psoriasis is a skin disease or infection. It is a chronic inflammatory skin disease. It causes redness of skin and irritation. It is not contagious. Psoriasis produces red, dry plaques of thickened skin. Generally, a person is not aware that he or she is suffering from psoriasis.

Things that trigger psoriasis are:
- One thing that triggers psoriasis in someone who has an inherited tendency.
- Second, any kind of physical or chemical trauma.
- Hormonal changes.
- Psychological causes.
- Plaque psoriasis are patches of erupted skin and a rare.
- Pustular psoriasis is a rare and a more serious form. In this, the skin erupts in pus-filled spots. They are non infectious. It is due to an inflammatory response in the skin.

There is a possibility that psoriasis can develop into arthritis. Psoriasis arthritis is an inflammatory disease that causes pain, stiffness and swelling in and around joints. Psoriasis arthritis can cause irreversible joint damage or disabling if left untreated.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Psoriasis
Psoriasis is not curable currently. Although psoriasis is not contagious but it can pass on to your children as it can be a genetic disease. Dermatologists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of psoriasis, and rheumatologists specialize in the treatment of joint disorders and psoriasis arthritis.

- Mild psoriasis can be treated by creams, lotions, sprays.
- Moderate or severe psoriasis require ultra-violet light treatments or systemic (total body treatments such as pills or injections) medications.

Although Pancreatic Cancer is a very dangerous disease, and it ranks fourth in the list of life taking cancers, it can still be treated with some medicines. Getting yourself diagnosed at an earlier stage and taking the required treatment for Pancreatic cancer is always better than waiting for the cancer to get to an advanced stage, where it becomes almost impossible to cure it. Pancreatic cancer is termed to be a silent killer because of the fact that it does not show any symptoms in its initial stages. The Pancreas is basically the organ located in between the abdomen and the small intestine. There are two glands in the pancreas which possess their own independent functionalities. The exocrine gland secretes digestive juices hence stimulating the digestion process and the endocrine glands produces important hormones like insulin which keeps the sugar level in the blood balanced.
Pancreatic cancer can be treated when diagnosis is done early, in a curable stage. Pancreatic cancer is treated with the help of the following therapies on the basis of the results obtained from surgery:
• First therapy is Chemotherapy.
• The second type of therapy is radiotherapy.
Apart from these therapies, there are many medicines that are present for Pancreatic cancer. They can be listed as follows:
• Fluorouracil (5-FU): This drug is infused into the cancer patient with the help of a medication pump. When used in combination with radiation, it makes the cancer cells more sensitive.
• Avastin: This drug is very helpful in slowing down the growth of cancerous cells. This drug should be stopped for at least four weeks after and before the surgery of the patient. It is used in combination with other medicines used for treatment of cancer. The drug has side effects such as problems in the healing of wounds, this also leads to infections or bleeding of wounds.
• Pancreatin: It helps in the digestion process of the body and should be taken along with a full glass of water during meals. This medicine causes irritation when held in the mouth for a long time. It should be taken with a diet referred by a doctor or a health nutritionist. There are minor side effects like swollen joints, stomach pain, etc which can happen due to its use.
• Gemcitabine (Gemzar): This medication is given for seven weeks for one day in every week and then for one week the treatment is halted. Then the dosage of the medicine is decreased in number gradually. It directly affects cancer cells with side effects of this medication including nausea, fatigue, infections risks, etc.
• Afinitor: This drug is also responsible for interfering with the cell growth and slowing down the growth of the cancerous cells. It should not be taken in case the patient is allergic to drugs like tacrolimus, everolimus, etc. It could be harmful for patients of diabetes, liver disease, hepatitis B and pregnant ladies as well.
• Adrucil: This drug interferes with reproduction system’s protein production. The patient must inform to their doctors about any kind of side effects being suffered by the patient while using this drug. Problems related to kidney, allergies, breast feeding and pregnancy must be reported to the concerned doctor immediately or else future problems may take place. Some side effects of this drug include fever, chill, vomiting and nausea.
There are several other medications which can be used for treating pancreatic cancer. One should remember that these medications are only the added supplements that are combined with your treatment and they cannot be used to treat the cancer when taken individually.

Hepatitis B and C are difficult to get diagnosed and they are often referred as silent diseases. Initially, for the first six months there may be no symptoms. Acute viral hepatitis results in fatigue, fever, nausea and vomiting but these are common symptoms so additional tests are needed. Hepatitis C is diagnosed in chronic stages when it starts affecting liver. A typical cycle of disease from infection to liver damage may take very long.
Hepatitis B makes people sick especially children and symptoms may include tiredness, loss of appetite, stomach ache, nausea, vomiting, jaundice or joint pain. More serious complications may include cirrhosis or liver cancer.
Hepatitis B and C can prove to be more dangerous than HIV because of the absence of vaccine for hepatitis C, low level of awareness, difficulty in predictability of response to therapy. Improving the identification and public health management like screening of persons with hepatitis B and C infection can help prevent chronic liver disease.
Screening is recommended for people who are born in eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, Middle East and Pacific Islands, homosexual men, donors of blood and plasma, pregnant women, infants born to HBsAg positive mothers, persons on immune suppression therapy etc.

A person suffering from Hepatitis B or C should do:
- Check Hepatitis B or C status.
- Promote vaccinations.
- Be careful so that no one is accidentally exposed to blood.
- Discard materials used during injury.
- Wash hands.
- Avoid unprotected sex.
- Hepatitis status of spouse or sexual partner should be checked.
- Individuals who are at higher risk should be vaccinated.
- Monitor your liver functioning regularly.

A person suffering from Hepatitis B or C should not do:
- Don not share chewing gums, toothbrush, razor, needle or anything that comes in contact with blood.
- Do not share syringe.
- Do not donate blood, plasma, tissues, sperm.
- Do not panic and fear the worst.
- Do nor chew food before giving it to babies.
- Do not neglect follow up.
- do not try unproven therapies.

Glandular fever is a viral infection and it is more common among people between age 10 to 25 years. This infection usually occurs at teenage age. Epstein-Barr named virus is responsible for glandular fever. It is mainly spread through saliva. It is also spread by airborne droplets. It is also called as “kissing disease”.
The virus multiplies in the cells at the back of the throat and spreads to the lymph glands, which produce white blood cells to fight infection. Glandular fever is a contagious disease.
